Fishing  near Aberaeron in West Wales

Ceredigion has facilities for many types of fishing. Within just a few miles of Aberaeron there is beach and boat fishing, also both coarse and trout fishing in both rivers and lakes. Bait and tackle is available locally and several fisheries can also provide equipment. Local Fisheries are shown below (in alphabetical order) 

  • Llanarth Coarse Fishery - has a 2 acre pond with Carp, Tench, Bream and Roach and another mixed coarse pond. It is just off the A487 south of the filling station at Llanarth.  Bait is available on site and charges are £5 per day.    01545-580598.
  • Llanerchaeron:  East of Aberaeron. 2 miles of fishing on the River Aeron. Permits from National Trust Office  01570 - 471034
  • Fron Farm Fishery, Bontnewydd, Bronnant. Four lakes, one for coarse angling and three for Trout and Atlantic Salmon. Full disabled access to the lower lake and night fishing available. Open all year .

  • Nine Oaks Fishery, Oakford 01545 580482 / 07976 283958 3 Trout pools stocked with Rainbows, Blues and Tiger Trout from 2lbs. It has 2 superb Coarse lakes and 1 well stocked Novices pool.
  • Rhydlewis Trout Fishery: 3 acre lake and onsite smokery -   01239 - 851224
  • Rockhoppers Sea Angling Club - 07817601540
  • Teglan Fishery      01570 471 115 is at  Ciliau Aeron (on the main road from Aberaeron to Lampeter) . They have 2 lakes as well as river fishing on the Aeron. £6 per person per day. Permits required. They also have disabled access.

Sea Fishing

There is no permit required for sea fishing. Bait is available at the Sports shop in Aberaeron (by the traffic lights on the A487). 

Several Boats  go out of New Quay,  details are below. Most boats display a blackboard with details on the pier at New Quay. Please ask boat owners about the availability of fishing trips.

Any angler aged 12 years or over, fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England (except the River Tweed), Wales or the Border Esk and its tributaries in Scotland must have an Environment Agency rod licence.

Rod licences are available from Post Office outlets throughout England and Wales, online, by direct debit and over the telephone on 0844 800 5386. The phone line is open from 8.30am to 8.00pm daily from March to September and 8.30am to 6.00pm from October to February.
